    Poverty Simulation

The poverty simulation is a powerful tool designed to break down stereotypes and provide participants with a firsthand experience of the complexities and interconnected issues surrounding poverty. In this simulation, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians will immerse themselves in real-life scenarios, gaining insights into the daily struggles faced by individuals dealing with poverty. Participants will:

    • Navigate the challenges of a single parent with limited resources and no transportation, striving to balance work and childcare.
    • Confront the financial dilemma of an elderly person trying to afford both utilities and necessary medications.
    • Understand the responsibilities of a young adult caring for siblings while a parent is incarcerated.
    • Experience the complexities faced by an elderly couple raising their grandchildren while managing their own health and employment issues.
    • Pre-registration is required to participate in the Poverty Simulation on Friday at 9:30am and is limited to 80 registrants.  There will be concurrent CE sessions on the Beer's List and Acute Care Pearls.
